LWOG conducts project monitoring to ensure restoration success and conducts periodic water quality sampling and analysis as part of the State’s River Watch citizen monitoring program. We also work with Left Hand Water District to protect water quality in their source area, collaborate with watershed stakeholders to restore legacy mining sites that contribute metals and acidic mine drainage water to the creek, and work to enhance minimum flows in reaches where flow is at times insufficient to support healthy aquatic life. As a result of this program both LWOG and the population in general have quantitative information about the status and trends of water quality and quantity in the creeks, and about the effectiveness of restoration projects.
